Welcome to my photography blog

"Amazing...stunning...beautiful...fabulous" -just some of the words brides have used to describe my work. How lucky am I?! After starting out (some years ago!) giving photo gifts to my friends and family, I now get to do it everyday through my wedding and portrait photography services.

Based in Rochester, Kent, I cover weddings throughout Kent and London and also accommodate destination weddings which have included the Caribbean and European favourites such as France and Greece.

Now I'm starting my blog; partly to get a bit more with the times(!) but also to let couples see their first pictures within days of their wedding. Hopefully some of these pictures can give 'Brides to be' some ideas for venues, colours and themes as well!

If you would like to talk about your own photography requirements, please feel free to get in touch. Hope you enjoy! Lorna-Elizabeth.

Winter Wedding Pictures: Sam & Matt

Sunday, Feb. 17th 2013

Sam & Matt’s wedding was a wonderful celebration, from their tender ceremony, wonderful wedding breakfast through to their epic(!) party in the evening.   Sam & Matt’s classical taste shone through in every aspect of their wedding, from the delicate lace bolero of Sam’s beautiful dress,  the luxuriously and uniquely designed green bridesmaids’ dresses, the dark suits of the groom and groomsmen, and all of the beautiful touches at the wedding breakfast.

Sam & Matt threw themselves into experiencing and enjoying every minute of their wedding day, but we managed to find a few minutes(!) to capture a few portraits which they posed for effortlessly; and leaving them all the more time to enjoy their special day; such a fantastic occasion.

One of my favourites from the day; Sam’s bridesmaids were her closest friends from school; they are used to being bridesmaids for each other on their wedding days and this time everyone was there for Sam.  I also love that Sam’s dad is in the background in this picture, proudly looking on…

The bridesmaid team(!)  Flowers were the creation of Broadview Florist

Sam, what can I say?! Effortlessly beautiful and graceful in every picture

The groomsmen helping to calm Matt’s nerves!

Loved this delicate and pretty table planner that Sam had made..

And such an unusal favour but what a great idea!  Sweets with Sam & Matt’s names on

The speeches were fantastic with a very relaxed best man giving the final speech with some pretty interesting revelations!!

Such a fun and exciting day, thank you to Sam & Matt and your wonderful family and friends!! Lorna xx

Eastwell Manor Wedding Pictures: Katie & Keith

Saturday, Feb. 2nd 2013

It’s the funniest thing, but whilst putting together this collection for Katie & Keith’s Christmas Wedding at Eastwell Manor Hotel  I found myself smiling away with the odd giggle outburst!   Katie & Keith always bring such life and fun to their pictures.   The first time I photographed them was at their engagement session at Eastwell Manor in the summertime and those pictures had exactly the same effect!  Katie & Keith’s summer engagement pictures complimented their Christmas Wedding and they incorporated the pictures into their Wedding day; such a fantastic idea!  To see a small selection of their engagement pictures, click here.

Well, what to say of their wedding day?  The pictures say it best; delicate details and big smiles all day long, here is a small selection…

Yes, the Jimmy Choo perfume is the focus of this picture but those impressive heels really do grab the shot!

Katie’s beautiful nieces were the sweetest bridesmaids and relished their role in the day!  The incredible floral arrangements were created by Elli Cawse floral designs

Loved this idea of choosing a summertime engagement picture with the whole of Eastwell Manor behind them being on the front of the order of service, such a great keepsake for the guests

And the smiles and happiness that say it all…

All official!

Some pretty pictures by the enormous Christmas tree

Katie & Keith were very particular about the wedding breakfast and it was really worth it; walking into their reception room for the first time was breathtaking…

The timing couldn’t be more perfect, as the guests were seated for the wedding breakfast, late afternoon sun streamed through making the Christmas decorations sparkle even more as the harpist Carys Hughes played The Beatles; ‘Here Comes The Sun’…

And the perfect ending with a candlelit portrait…

Thank you so much to Katie & Keith, I enjoyed every minute of knowing you both and congratulations once more!! Lorna xxx

New Year’s Resolutions (start in February!)

Thursday, Jan. 31st 2013

Well, I realised today that it is the last day of January and I have failed dismally in keeping one of my New Year’s resolutions!  I promised myself that no matter how busy I get I will update my blog at least once a week, but time just keeps whooshing past.   Anyway, it has been a fantastic month and I thought I would share a quick peek at one of the pictures I captured earlier in the week whilst shooting for (re)loved styling

Just love the simplicity of this picture… something very calming, makes me feel like sitting at my desk and working on my future blog updates :)

Chilston Park Christmas Wedding Pictures: Gemma & Phil

Sunday, Jan. 20th 2013

Gemma & Phil’s Christmas Wedding was truly an occasion to remember!  Before every wedding I always feel excited (with a little touch of the nerves!) because I want to make sure that I get the best photographs I can for every couple.  Knowing just how passionate Gemma & Phil are about photography, it felt just as important as ever to capture as many beautiful portraits as possible; but how easy they made my job!!

With such a fun outlook on their day and the most fantastic guests, Gemma & Phil’s wedding was everything I imagined it would be.  Soft candlelight, pretty Christmas lights and a beautifully dressed bridal party in purple, being at their wedding was like stepping into a dream!

Thank you so much to Gemma & Phil for an amazing day and for choosing me to photograph your wedding, it has been so lovely to have met you both and been part of your wedding xxx

Gemma chose Hayley at Flair-Beauty  as her make up artist..stunning

Gemma’s mum and the bridesmaids made getting ready so much fun!

And a quiet moment..

And a very easy going groom indeed!  Floral designs were the creation of flowerart

This was the first ceremony that Chilston Park  have held in the Marble Room, it looked so beautiful

How I love love love Christmas lights!

And time for the party!  Love it when couples opt for the wedding cake to be cut before the first dance, the lighting is always so lovely

Wishing you both every happiness, congratulations Gemma & Phil xxx

Engagement Shoots 2012

Friday, Dec. 21st 2012

These last few weeks have been so busy as I am moving house tomorrow (and as I treat all of my photography equipment with cotton gloves at the best of times, I have been finding moving quite consuming to say the least!).  But it is great that everything is finally packed up now and it has been lovely to put together some final pictures from the couples this year who opted for the engagement session.  Looking back over them reminds me of just how many lovely people I have met, how much fun I have had and how lucky I am to do this for my job.  Thank you again to all of the couples who let me share their pics.

And I think I will start here with one of my favourite black and white pics from the year, this shot of Anna & Tony on the right hand side just seems like the kind of picture that will last and last.. one that will be in a frame on the wall forever and that their future family will love!

On the beach this summer with Amy & James, with the Jubilee and Olympics 2012 has certainly seen a lot of the Union Jack!

Now back to the snowy engagements :)   In Greenwich Park with Jo & Dave at the beginning of the year…

Gemma & Phil at Rochester castle gardens, they have created a three panelled 6 ft art piece of the picture below in their living room, looks amazing!!

Looking forward to Katie & Keith’s wedding at Eastwell Manor next week, here they are in the summertime…

And another colourful shot from Claire & Steve’s late summer engagement

This is one of Jo’s favourite pictures from her engagement, taken on the bridge where Paul proposed to her :)

Sian & Julian’s favourite place for relaxing walks, Scotney Castle

And with Charlotte & Liam amidst the snowy haze

Holly & Ben, absolute naturals in any pose!

Amie & Niall in the autumn, loved the blue of Amie’s dress against the leaves..

Can’t wait for the wedding in February, know it will be so much fun!

Riverside Country Park with Eve & James

And back to the beach with Katie & Adrian..

Ending on one of my other favourite black and white’s for the year!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Tudor Park Marriott Wedding Pictures: Amy & James

Friday, Nov. 30th 2012

Amy & James were married in the beautiful village of Loose (one of the prettiest places in Kent!) followed up with celebrations at the Tudor Park Marriott Hotel.   Amy & James were so much fun to be with and they both had a very easy going approach to their day.  This was perhaps in part due to the incredible family team(!) they had behind them who helped to create the most beautiful and special day.

Amy had opted for a vintage feel for her wedding which was reflected in every aspect, from the delicate design and beading on her dress, to the pretty glass vases full of soft pink and ivory flowers that decorated their reception.

I have loved looking back over their portraits and on account of their willingness to try anything(!) I am pleased that we have a special portrait for every stage of their day.  Thank you so much Amy & James for such a great time at your wedding, I am very lucky to have met you both and been part of your day, Lorna xx

Amy’s mum is the florist behind Flowertheatre and not only did she create the stunning floral arrangements for their day, she also created so many of the small touches including this delicate crochet bag

The Gospel choir Revelation Singers  completely blew me away with their amazing voices and took everyone by surprise as Amy walked down the aisle to James

Register all signed, it’s official!!

The marquee at Tudor Park looked absolutely stunning…

I loved these delicate details and especially the Whiskey bottle gift for the best man!

The reception room was simply beautiful with the candlelight creating such a gorgeous warm glow; the amazing cake was made by James’ mum

A very big thank you to BeeJay Entertainment  for helping out and getting the spotlight in exactly the right position!

Congratulations once more Amy & James!! If you would like to see a slideshow of their day, click HERE

Favourite black and white wedding pictures

Tuesday, Nov. 20th 2012

I have recently been designing a new display album for Kaoru & Pete’s beautiful wedding at St. Ermin’s Hotel in Westminster.  Whilst putting together the album I rediscovered so many favourites and also found some new ones(!)

I hadn’t included this picture in Kaoru & Pete’s slideshow which you can view here as there were so many beautiful colour options, but this classic black and white picture of the cake cutting has become one of my favourite spreads in the album: it looks so wonderful in a large scale format.  There is something about this picture which transports me straight to 1930’s glamour and I just love it!!  I look forward to sharing the album soon :)

Saying goodbye and thank you’s

Friday, Nov. 9th 2012

I consider myself very fortunate to work as a wedding photographer; to have the opportunity to take beautiful pictures of couples that they will treasure their whole lives. I have to say I do get quite attached to the newlyweds(!) and I always make sure to let them know how much I appreciate the chance to share in their amazing day.

Something that made me think recently was some wonderful feedback from a bride this summer, Laura explained:

“We have got the album and love it! It is beautiful every page is perfect! We have had so many compliments about your work, I can’t wait to show everyone! Simon and I would like to thank you for capturing the special moments of our wedding day, we will cherish the album for ever. You did a fantastic job!! Feels sad saying good bye!!! Thanks for everything takecare Lorna thanks again Laura and Simon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”

It always feels sad saying goodbye to me as well, especially after I get to spend so much more time ‘at the wedding’ as I put together each couple’s gallery and album!  In Laura’s case, I had gotten to know her family even better as I photographed her sister Becky’s wedding last year, and their wonderful mum kindly sent me a card and a photograph too which really made my day with the comments:

“How lucky we were to meet you at the wedding fair back in 2010.  Our daughters’ wedding photos could not have been better!”

It’s always flattering to receive lovely feedback like this and so very kind of people to take the trouble to send cards and let me know, below is the card from Laura’s mum and another beautiful photograph and card from Zoe & Andy’s wedding  in July.  I have also linked Zoe & Andy’s kind comments into the feedback section  on my website.  Thank you all so much.

And because I can’t quite resist leaving it there, a couple of my faves from Laura & Simon’s day…

Chilston Hotel Wedding Pictures: Claire & Steve

Saturday, Nov. 3rd 2012

Claire & Steve met as teenagers at their local bowling alley and instantly knew there was something special between them. But even though both tried to play it cool it wasn’t long before they were dating, and they never looked back! Steve chose one of the most romantic settings in the world for his proposal; a gondola on a Venice canal, and soon after their wedding preparations were in full swing.

As Claire works in advertising it was no surprise that her amazing creative talents would be put to great use to create such a stunning wedding.  To find out more about the inspiration behind Claire & Steve’s big day it is better to read their version than mine(!), so check out the feature on their day in Brides Magazine

Thank you to Claire & Steve for an amazing time at your wedding, it was such a privilege to get to know you both and to have been chosen to photograph such a special day in your lives.

Stunning peach and ivory floral arrangements were created by Amanda and her amazing team at Distinctly Floral

And you just can’t go wrong with a pair of sparkly Jimmy Choos!

I was just IN LOVE(!) with Claire’s beautiful dress from Enzoani

And the expressions that say it all; Claire & Steve’s wedding day was just as magical for their sweet nieces

Yep, that is a kindle you can see, times have definitely moved on!

To see more pictures of the floral arrangements and learn some more about their creation, Distinctly floral have done a fab blog post on it here  I could have happily spent hours photographing these beautiful arrangements!

Stunning, stunning cake created by Jayney Cakes

There were so many other creative touches to their day…

And time for a few portraits at sunset
