Welcome to my photography blog

"Amazing...stunning...beautiful...fabulous" -just some of the words brides have used to describe my work. How lucky am I?! After starting out (some years ago!) giving photo gifts to my friends and family, I now get to do it everyday through my wedding and portrait photography services.

Based in Rochester, Kent, I cover weddings throughout Kent and London and also accommodate destination weddings which have included the Caribbean and European favourites such as France and Greece.

Now I'm starting my blog; partly to get a bit more with the times(!) but also to let couples see their first pictures within days of their wedding. Hopefully some of these pictures can give 'Brides to be' some ideas for venues, colours and themes as well!

If you would like to talk about your own photography requirements, please feel free to get in touch. Hope you enjoy! Lorna-Elizabeth.

Holy Cross Church & Turkey Mill Wedding Pictures: Lucy & Tim

Thursday, Mar. 20th 2014

As I put together my favourite pictures of Lucy & Tim’s day I realised that I actually had over 50 photos (a few too many for a blog!).  I found it so hard to narrow them down to only a handful of favourites when I had just so many!!

Lucy & Tim were married on a gloriously sunny and beautiful November day in the Holy Cross in Bearsted, where Lucy had sung in the choir growing up.  I couldn’t help thinking how special it must be to say your vows in the church of your childhood.  The bells rang out in celebration and then the guests were on their way to join the bride and groom at the stunning Turkey Mill wedding venue in Maidstone.  Possibly every shade of Autumn could be seen in the rustling leaves of the beautiful grounds as the champagne bottles popped open and celebrations got underway!  It was a beautiful start to married life. Congratulations Lucy & Tim!!

Lucy had chosen an array of beautiful accessories; this stunning necklace worn in the evening was by Magpie Vintage

1 Wedding pearl clutch bag

Lucy has the best friends (and brother!)  imaginable.. all floral bouquets and button holes were the creation of Maureen’s Florist in Lenham

2 Holy Cross Church Bearsted Wedding

Lucy’s stylish hair was by Gail at the Richmond Salon (bridesmaid’s hair by Great Hairdressing Bearsted) and beautiful make up from Lucy-Jayne

3 Holy Cross Church Bearsted Wedding

Simple and delicate flowers by the church florist decorated the Holy Cross which was so light and warm, Tim meanwhile greeted guests and made sure everything was just perfect!

Loved Lucy’s reaction(!) to seeing one of her flower girls for the first time…

Winter wedding pictures: Gemma & Rob

Tuesday, Feb. 25th 2014

Gemma & Rob’s wedding was a fantastic day and a perfect example of how cosy and beautiful winter weddings can be.  We made the most of the outside during a narrow rain free window(!) of 10 minutes or so and for the rest of the day Gemma & Rob did what they do best; laughing, joking and enjoying each and every moment with their friends and family.

Looking through Gemma & Rob’s pictures I’m not only reminded of how beautiful all of their details were and how the bold purples and soft lilacs looked so stunning amidst the candles decorating the venue, but also of just how warm everything felt.  The intimate, happy and friendly atmosphere was a perfect match for the glow from the fires, the candelabras and the sparkly decorations… a very big thank you to you all for being so very kind and welcoming, congratulations once more!!

Gemma & Rob’s beautiful venue was Chilston Park Hotel and the resident florist flowerart created the most gorgeous flowers as always!

Gemma reminded me of a classic Hollywood actress, her beautiful hair and make up were by Gillian Smissen

Gemma’s elegant dress was the creation of La Sposa from Bride of Tenterden

Thank you cards: Harrietsham Church Wedding

Wednesday, Feb. 19th 2014

The only thing to better this lovely sunny morning in Kent (at last!) is the thank you card that I received from Beth & James.  I was very touched by their kind words about their wedding photography from December:  ”We really cannot thank you enough for all of your fantastic work and the crucial role you played on our wedding day. We are so pleased with the photos and will enjoy them for years to come. We were so impressed with how quickly you got them to us- it shows how good your photography is that don’t need to photoshop or play around with them at all and we really enjoyed looking through them on our honeymoon. Finally, thank you for being such a lovely presence at the wedding. You made us feel so at ease and relaxed and were able to capture the day so closely without being obtrusive at all. All of our friends and family were very impressed too. With all of our thanks, love Beth & James”

I’ve always known just how lucky I am to do my job, but couples taking the time to write and let me know just how much they are enjoying their pictures really is the icing on the cake!  Here is a picture of Beth & James walking down the Harrietsham Church path and slowly taking it in ‘Wow, we are finally married!!’

Chilston Park Hotel: The different seasons

Wednesday, Feb. 5th 2014

When the Events team at Chilston Park Hotel recently approached me to ask if I could contribute to their new wedding brochure, I busied myself in finding a whole range of pictures.  Going through pictures from 2013 was just lovely as I went through the different weddings I had photographed and  got to relive so many moments again!  I was particularly struck though at just how beautiful every single season is, there is no ‘right time’ to get married, every season is just so gorgeous in its own way.   Here is a picture from the daffodils colouring Spring through to the crisp late sun of Winter days.

Maggie Sottero Wedding Dresses

Tuesday, Jan. 28th 2014

I have spent the afternoon browsing through lots of pictures from last year as I am compiling a collection for Chilston Park Hotel.  It has been really nice as I have re-discovered(!) so many lovely pictures.   One thing that caught my eye today were the stunning Maggie Sottero Wedding dresses worn by brides last year.. from my fb updates I see that they have just added in some beautiful new lines as well.   Here are the two Chilston brides, Holly & Fiona, wearing gorgeous dresses by this designer.  (These pics looked beautiful in the albums!)

Oakwood House Wedding pictures: Claire & Dean

Sunday, Jan. 26th 2014

When I look back at Claire & Dean’s beautiful wedding day at Oakwood House it’s like looking back on the wedding of a couple of friends.  Claire & Dean have such a kind nature about them; you can’t help but feel happy in their company!  From their fun engagement session on Whitstable beach in the summer to their stunning Autumn wedding, getting to know them has been a great experience and I was thrilled to be part of this special day in their lives.

I loved how everything they had chosen for their wedding blended so perfectly.  Upon arriving for the bridal preparations I got my first clues(!) as to how gorgeous this wedding would be; sparkly Kurt Geiger shoes, amazing dress embroidery and the softest and prettiest of bouquets.   The beautiful details and colours that Claire had chosen were a perfect complement to the golden hues that were to follow, all offset against Dean’s striking military uniforms and the dark blue of the bridesmaid dresses!

Claire’s beautiful hair comb is from the Jon Richards collection

The stunning floral arrangements were created by Elli Cawse floral design.  Claire’s incredible dress was designed by Sophia Tolli

Claire had a great support team; her two best friends Laura & Emma were on ‘standby’ throughout the morning!

Monday, Jan. 20th 2014

Well, to describe me as ‘over the moon’ is putting it mildly!! I have had the fantastic news that Amie & Niall have won the ‘Kent Wedding of the Year 2013’ award.  They are such a deserving couple in every way, it is definitely time to have a little celebrate… who knows I might even break free from ‘detox January’ and toast some champagne to them myself(!)

Amie sent me the following message with the news:  “Hi Lorna, I hope this message finds you well. Thought I would let you know…. We have won kent wedding of the year 2013 ! So pleased and happy. Still hasn’t sunk in. ! Just a very special thank you for our beautiful pictures! So many people have said just how wonderful they are and how natural and perfect the look !
