Welcome to my photography blog

"Amazing...stunning...beautiful...fabulous" -just some of the words brides have used to describe my work. How lucky am I?! After starting out (some years ago!) giving photo gifts to my friends and family, I now get to do it everyday through my wedding and portrait photography services.

Based in Rochester, Kent, I cover weddings throughout Kent and London and also accommodate destination weddings which have included the Caribbean and European favourites such as France and Greece.

Now I'm starting my blog; partly to get a bit more with the times(!) but also to let couples see their first pictures within days of their wedding. Hopefully some of these pictures can give 'Brides to be' some ideas for venues, colours and themes as well!

If you would like to talk about your own photography requirements, please feel free to get in touch. Hope you enjoy! Lorna-Elizabeth.

Turkey Mill Weddings: Gardens & Details

Tuesday, May. 15th 2012

I had the pleasure once again of photographing at Turkey Mill a couple of weeks ago and thought I would share a few of my favourite details and ideas that the bride and groom had incorporated into their day.  The first thing about Turkey Mill that always amazes me is the absolute ‘WOW’ feeling you get as you step through a discreet side gate to see this view which always feels completely unexpected…

The bride and groom had opted for soft lilacs and lavenders to decorate their Wedding Breakfast which fused beautifully with the fresh greens of the gardens (and incidentally the colour of the room!)  Chair covers and napkin settings were arranged by the team at Dressing Rooms

Pretty and delicate floral arrangements were designed by Vivien Balcombe

Loved the way that the centre pieces flowed with the bouquets

I always find it totally exciting to see pictures from our pre-wedding engagement shoot incorporated into the wedding day and I loved this personal touch: a picture on the back of the menu making them a special keepsake for guests and personalising the tables

And a final picture from the pretty flowerbeds next to the stream, spoilt for choice in this lovely location!

Summer is almost here!

Monday, May. 14th 2012

Walking through Rochester the other day I noticed that all of my favourite trees for this time of year had already lost their blossom, simply rained away with the heavy showers.   But this weekend, I saw a glimpse, yes a glimpse(!) that summer really has started already.  With a beach front wedding on Saturday with the blue sea as our backdrop and Chilston Park Wedding fair yesterday, summer really is on its way!  This picture just reminds me that warmer weather and eating outside is coming soon (plus it’s a way for me to show off my new, gorgeous lens with its pretty creative depth of field look!)

Chilston Park Hotel Wedding Photography: Charlotte & Liam

Friday, Apr. 6th 2012

Driving home from Charlotte & Liam’s wedding I wondered if perhaps it’s time I invested in some waterproof mascara! As Charlotte prepared for her big day with the help of her team of bridesmaids her instinctively caring and thoughtful way and infectious laugh created the most happy and exciting atmosphere.  The wedding ceremony was full of so much feeling and emotion that everyone present, from the guests to the staff were captivated as the bride and groom took their vows.

Liam and Charlotte had prepared for this day for a long time and after a busy few months leading up to their wedding with full time jobs, college courses and assignment deadlines for Charlotte(!), this wonderful day of celebration and delicate details came to fruition.

It has been amazing to get to know Charlotte and Liam more from their snowy engagement pictures to  their fabulous wedding day and the wonderful pictures they created… wishing you both a very wonderful honeymoon in Thailand and a well deserved rest! Lornaxx

Charlotte’s georgeous oyster silver wedding dress from the ‘The White One’ design team looked simply stunning..

Liam and his best man with their final preparations and a few laughs to settle the nerves(!)

Juuust MARRIED!!

This beautiful pop of colour from Charlotte’s bouquet looked amazing against her dress and Liam’s dark suit.  Flower design by flowerart

Loved the ‘wishing tree’ idea where guests posted messages to the couple

Spring Wedding Photography: Jo & Dave

Wednesday, Apr. 4th 2012

After getting to know Jo & Dave better at their engagement session in Greenwich Park I was really looking forward to their wedding day. I’d seen that they had a very easy-going and natural fun way about them, but what I hadn’t quite anticipated was that all of their guests would be just as much fun and what a lively and happy wedding this would be!

As preparations for the day began with her mum and lovely bridesmaids Bekah and Nat, Jo calmly went about getting ready for her big day. Meanwhile Dave was (very thoroughly!) preparing for the day ahead too; organising the rearrangement of the venue for our Bride & Groom portrait session and making sure that everything would be just perfect.

I have to say that everything was perfect indeed and I felt very lucky to be able to spend such a fabulous day with you Jo & Dave. BIG BIG congratulations to you both!!

There were some lovely lilac flowers out in the borders which looked great set against Jo’s fab bouquet…

Rich purple details decorated the Wedding Breakfast room and this beautiful cake was made by Jo’s mum…very clever!

The best man giving his final toast to the bride and groom after brilliant speeches

Ending with a very romantic first dance…

Winter Wedding in the Sunshine! Caitlin & Rupi

Saturday, Mar. 24th 2012

There is something about watching the slideshow from Caitlin & Rupi’s day that makes me get teary eyed(!) and so happy to be back there! Caitlin & Rupi’s colourful, delicate and beautiful wedding day was the perfect match for all of the fun and spirit that they and all of their guests brought to the day. The bridesmaids wore beautiful red and blue saris with flowers arranged to reflect their dress colours whilst Caitlin opted for the perfect red rose bouquet. As February weddings go this wedding felt more like a true Spring day. As the bridesmaids prepared and the groomsmen welcomed guests, the balmy warm air breezed through the windows and was the perfect start to this fabulous day. After a beautiful ceremony it was fun to spend some of the afternoon with the new Mr & Mrs! Caitlin & Rupi, thank you both for such a great day, it was such a pleasure to share some of your day with you both, Lorna-Elizabeth xx

Wedding Industry Awards: Cafe de Paris, London

Monday, Mar. 12th 2012

I was super excited when Carli, the fantastic corporate and event photographer and owner of Adby Creative Images asked me to assist her in covering the photography at the Wedding Industry Awards in London earlier this year.  The Awards ceremony was held at the vibrant Café de Paris in Leicester Square which is such a beautifully decorated and fun venue.  On checking out their website I was quite interested to see that they also hold wedding receptions there as well!

A couple of snaps from the evening…

The awards were presented by Sky News Royal correspondent Sarah Hughes who shared some of her excitement with us about covering Kate & Wills Wedding last year as well as celebrating her own wedding just shortly before

Loved this reaction from Jo Barnes on finding out she had won the ‘Best Wedding Accessory’ category, she has the most beautiful handcrafted items, to have a look at her designs check out Jo Barnes Vintage Headdresses & Accessories

And time for the party!

Wedding Day Vintage styling & ideas

Saturday, Mar. 10th 2012

One of my favourite things about wedding fairs is that I feel like I am always making new friends.  As well as meeting lots of new brides and grooms to be, I get to have a natter with long standing industry friends and also meet some new ones!  Last week at the Chilston Park Wedding Fair I had the pleasure of meeting Carrie from re(loved) Styling and vintage rental.  After years of TV & Event styling, Carrie has decided to bring her expertise to bride and grooms as well.  I was absolutely smitten(!) with all of Carrie’s lovely display items and thought I would share a few snaps with you in case you are thinking of a vintage theme or would like styling for your own wedding day.

Chilston Park Engagement Photography: Charlotte & Liam

Wednesday, Feb. 15th 2012

It seems the ‘snow fairies’ have been with me these past couple of weekends!  On waking up on Sunday I could see that there was a new dusting of icy snow and upon meeting Charlotte & Liam in the countryside at Chilston Park I was stunned to see how pretty and snowy it was there.   We had a fun hour or so taking these pictures and it was great to spend some time with Charlotte & Liam as they had booked me for their day quite some time ago, so it was just great to get to know more about them.  Thank you Charlotte and Liam for having such patience with my ‘let’s try something different’ ideas(!)- really looking forward to your wedding day and laughing with you some more!

The fountain at the front was so thick and frozen with ice, I didn’t even know fountains could look like this!

Greenwich Park Engagement Photography: Joanne & Dave

Thursday, Feb. 9th 2012

On Saturday as the whole country prepared for the big snow fall, I crossed my fingers for enough snow so that Jo & Dave’s engagement pictures on Sunday would look really pretty, but not so much snow that I couldn’t get there- oh what a tightrope! The day worked out just perfectly as we met at Greenwich Park for their engagement pictures. I was quite literally amazed to see that most of London had already got there before us- everyone out sledging and sliding! This was my first engagement session of the year and Jo & Dave reminded me of how lovely it is to spend some time getting to know each other before the wedding day.  I realise it isn’t always easy to come out and meet a photographer and be in front of the camera and I am so grateful to Jo & Dave for coming out and getting stuck in and creating such beautiful pictures, thank you both for a lovely morning and can’t wait for your wedding!

The view from the hill, I think this is my favourite park in London…

Think this one is my fave!

style me pretty- colour, themes and ideas!

Friday, Jan. 27th 2012

I am just completely smitten(!) with this very clever tool I have just found on the stylemepretty website. You can create your own inspiration boards for any colour, or any themes such as cakes, table places, veils… really the list of options is endless!

I created my first inspiration board for purple as lots of brides I have met recently have mentioned that they are being drawn towards this beautiful colour. For the second board I chose more theme orientated sections and found some beautiful lighting. If you are looking for new inspiration, these boards are really easy to create, just one tip though, they do suggest that you use chrome, safari or firefox as your internet browser to make them (I especially know this is true as I spent about half an hour trying to make one with internet explorer!)
